About the job
GrandWorks is a design and development studio based in Goa, India. We build websites, mobile apps, and digital products for startups, established brands, and government bodies. Our work includes projects for Spotify, OnePlus, United Nations Development Programme, Borosil, and Dagens Opinion. Our flagship app, Abstruct, has crossed 1.5M downloads, and a few of our client relationships are now in their fourth or fifth year.
We're a small senior team that works directly with founders and product leads.
More about our work at grandworks.co
We're hiring a WordPress Developer to build and maintain client websites. WordPress is one of our most frequent project types: custom themes, WooCommerce stores, government portals, content-heavy marketing sites. You'll work end-to-end with designers and project leads, from Figma handoff through launch and ongoing maintenance.
What you'll do
Build custom WordPress themes from scratch (we don't lean on page builders for client work). Translate Figma designs into clean, accessible, performant WordPress sites. Set up and customize ACF, WooCommerce, multilingual setups, and the common plugin stack. Handle hosting, deployments, page speed, and Core Web Vitals. Maintain and improve existing client sites, including a portfolio of long-running engagements.
Ideal background
2+ years building custom WordPress themes (not just page-builder sites). Solid PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; comfortable with Gutenberg blocks. Experience with ACF, WooCommerce, and at least one managed WP hosting platform. A portfolio of live sites you've built or led. Comfortable working in English with international clients.
Why work with us?
Custom theme work, not page-builder factory churn. We write real WordPress, not Elementor assembly. Designers are in-house, so handoff is clean and questions get answered the same day. Long-running client relationships mean steady work and ownership of sites you'll watch grow over years. A small team that ships, no faceless ticket queue and no approval chains for trivial decisions. You'll work on a mix of Indian startups, international clients, NGOs, and government portals, not the same WooCommerce site for two years.
How to apply
Send your CV, a portfolio of WordPress sites you've built (with your specific role on each), and a short note about a recent project you're proud of to hello@grandworks.co. If you have specific questions, include them in your application and we'll get back to you directly.
